I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Are you content with your life? Being content often gets confused with being passive. Can you be ambitious and content. The answer is a resounding, “Yes.” Being content can be defined as being at peace or rest, but doesn’t imply that you have to wait before you strike gold or win the lotto.

Are their people you know who complain about everything and often seem better off than you? There is much to be said about reflecting on your life considering where you have come from to where you are. An actual list and or journaling helps record your history. I must include myself amongst those who have complained about how much life sucks and and how unfair it was only to realize I’ve done little to improve things. It is much easier to blame someone or something else rather than take responsibility for my actions and decisions whether good or bad.

This might start sounding repetitious, but there is no greater ambition than helping others. I’m not suggesting we all become preachers, but the best place to start is in your own home and field of influence. Smiling is a huge start. You will be amazed how people respond to a simple smile. Listen to your family/friends/coworkers even take notes on what is important to them. Everyone wants to know someone else actually cares about their well being. Thinking of others needs is probably not the most natural thing, but it is something we can learn. I believe Socrates said, “Admitting one’s ignorance is the beginning of wisdom.” Have you ever tried to share new info with someone who knows everything?

We should constantly keep learning about ourselves and how we can ambitiously help those around us who might be in greater pain than ourselves. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. The secret: Philippians 4:13
