1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet[a] you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and[b] adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Deja vu, but this sounds familiar. As soon as I stared scheduling the day there was less free time available. When I lived in boarder line chaos I had plenty of free time. What changed? Without a schedule I continually deferred stuff until it was critical or late. It has always been easy to operate within a system that was set up and managed by others. Managing “free” time didn’t seem necessary.
It somehow became right to celebrate free time after work as though any form of progress was purely incidental to enjoying free time. Time is an asset like money that can be used to help others or be used to indulge one’s self interests. It appears I ran out of time this evening. Didn’t even proof read
There was a time when I thought joy was a myth put together by Hollywood in shows like the Brady bunch or partridge family. I use to think my classmates were faking joy and maybe they were, but now I am convinced that true joy is attainable. Their is a big price to attain joy that few people are willing to pay.
What does it cost to be joyful? To attain joy one must endure an excruciating surgical procedure administered by none other than yourself. One must be willing to surgically remove the part of their consciousness that allows negative people to speak words of discouragement into their lives. Unhappy people come in all shapes and sizes from the youngest to the oldest. Most effective unhappy people are in your own family sad to say.
I have learned unhappy people do not set out to be unhappy and they are held captive by the voices and opinions of those who should have been their greatest supporters, but instead were the greatest destroyers of joy. Awareness empowers us to visit unhappy family and friends without being effected by their pain, but instead trying to share sincere joy with them hoping beyond hope they might be set free from the past.
Like many conditions handed down from generation to generation, misery gets passed down also. You have to break the tradition of pain and misery and embrace joy by the absence of misery. We have to learn the difference between constructive criticism versus destructive criticism. The greatest of fools can give the wisest counsel if we can handle it and discern between helpful advice versus hurtful advice.
My wife met a young lady on BART who seemed to be lost. It was 9 pm and the train came to the end of the line so everyone departed except a young lady in the back. The station workers said everyone had to exit but the young lady didn’t move. My wife couldn’t help, but notice so she went back into the train and tried to explain to the young lady that she had to exit the train so she did. My wife realized the young lady did speak English well and discovered she was an exchange student from Japan and was lost.
While waiting for my wife I get a call and she goes on to explain the student’s situation. The student got on the wrong train and didn’t know how to get back to where she was suppose to be so my wife offered her a ride instead of her trying to make her way back to Oakland around ten in the evening and transfer from there. My wife worried for the young ladies safety so after trying to communicate we were able to contact the student exchange host and decide on a meeting location. Everything turned out nicely for Hekai(I think) and my wife made a new friend. If it was my daughter I would hope someone would help. The lady my wife spent the day with recommended leaving Hekai in the station and suggested she would figure it out.
Going to a potluck this evening. Fellowship and food, awesome combo. Is it TGIF(Thank God It’s Friday) for you? Sad to say, but it feels like the clock counts down from the time work ends. Optimist or pessimists, not sure. Kind of a free day tomorrow and not sure whether to be super constructive, moderately productive or lazy on the couch burn out the eve player.
wifes car needs attention, my hoopty needs a bit and the old man car(1938 Chevrolet needs much TLC). Thinking about going for a nice run( thank God I can) then eating a massive burrito with cheese, sour cream and a side of tortilla chips to negate the run of course.
I have nothing to complain about when these are my biggest concerns. There are things on the horizon, but I choose to defer until they are impending. Don’t get me wrong, I am not procrastinating as I am a worry wart, but they are more hopes and dreams versus absolute. Heading out the door so have a great evening, weekend and most of all life.
I was one blink away from not entering this message. Had a good workout. Watching this person selling a battery for at least 3 months and I contacted Tuesday about the battery. I found my battery is dead so I followed up with the battery guy and wouldn’t you know it he just sold it now I have to spend twice as much on a new battery. By the way the battery is for my 38 Chevrolet.
I’m one who figures it probably turned out for the best. When things do not go according to plan do the best you can, but dont give up. Buenos noches
